What you need to know

In this instalment, we’ve got three more textured squares in both knit and crochet forms. You'll be learning alpine stitch, short and tall stitch and finally puff stitch. Each stitch pattern has a different tension, so a different number of stitches to ensure that all squares measure 15cm x 15cm – there’s no need for a tension square! Also, if you have enough yarn left at the end of each design, you could slip stitch around the edge to provide a neater finish for sewing up.

Sizing


All squares: 20cm x 20cm
12-square blanket: 66cm x 86cm
24 square blanket: 86cm x 126cm

What you'll need


DK yarn: 24 assorted shades in your chosen colours
Knitting needles: 4mm
Crochet hook: 4mm
Tapestry needle

NOTE: this is all the yarn and equipment needed for every part of the knitalong.

Nicola Valiji is a long-standing Let's Knit Together designer who first discovered her love of knitting while making a Jean Greenhowe doll with her nan. Joining her on this project is Zoë Potrac, an accomplished crochet designer whose innovative garment and homeware patterns have appeared in leading crochet publications across the UK.
